Great for fans, not so great for beginners

This is a very solid game with great visuals, sound, storyline, etc. However, the controls are difficult to adapt to and it's one of the games where you have to train yourself to be an expert to be able to enjoy the game. It's frustrating at first to get used to the controls and the game doesn't support keyboard & mouse unlike many PS2 FPS games. This is not to say that the PS3 doesn't support keyboards and mouse, it's just the game that doesn't support them.

This game is very difficult unless you're good at using the controller. It's difficult to aim and even when playing in the easiest mode on co-op, we're still having difficulties passing the game. However, keep in mind that this is our first time playing FPS games using a controller.

Having a high definition TV is very important in this game. The enemies in the distance is hard to see when using 480i mode. Once the resolution was changed to 1080i, it was much easier to see the distance and distinguish the enemies from the allies.

This game is great for experienced players who enjoy FPS games. However, for beginners who have never played FPS with a controller, we recommend renting this game first before buying it.

This game was the first I bought for my PS3. I was impressed with the story line, although in some areas could have used a little extra to spice it up.... Excellent game play, If you can play socom then your living comfortable as far as controls go. Long game, beat it fairly easy on normal.... Hard is a total different story........super human mode is the most action packed hard game I have played in a long time. Youll have fun with Resistance, this is a first person shotters wet dream!

This is an amazing first person shooter game. I usually only finish these type of games once but in this case, i enjoyed finishing in each level. EASY, MEDIUM. HARD, AND SUPERHUMAN

I just rented this game and all i have to say ... wow.. im addicted... i sat down and played for like 8 hrs.. i usually get bored of a game in about 2... not this one...

The graphics are awesome, the guns are new and have some really cool features. Storyline is original and just cool (one of the few games i WANT to watch all the video's in.) I like how when one of those workers starts chomping.. you have to shake the S**T out of the controller to get them off. Genius.... well.. back to playing... hehe :)

This game is freaking awesome! It was the first game we bought for our Playstation 3, and its is the best! Not the most original story outline, but it does have some features that are pretty original. The online play is the best though! Awesome graphics, awesome gameplay, and awesome videos!

This is the best FPS ever made. the grafics are shocking and so is the story. And man is the online great not only can you make a clan and all that stuff but when you get a certian amount of points you can level up which unlocks new clothes and equipment for your soldier. The story is awsome too the is lots of bosses to fight and you can get some sick weapons too my favorite is the Auger which can shoot through walls and it can also put up a force field to protect you from enemy fire.

This game is absolutely amazing. The graphics are stunning and the audio makes u fel like ur in the game. The variety of guns are awesome. This game, to me, is better than gears of war beacause first person shooter is always better than third. The graphics for gears of war may be slightly better, but resistance tops it with its 40 player online gaming system!!!!! Its definitely the best game out today.... for EVERY console!

This is the best first person shooter ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I give everything a 5 star, except I think there should be a storyline for being a chimera though. I suggest this game for avery PS3 gamer.

ok, so as a game buff i had o own the PS3 xbox 360 and a wii, so when i hurd that playstation where bringing out a game that is ment to be PS3 version of gears of war i just had to buy it, now gears of war IS the BEST game i have ever played on my 19 years of life, so i bought resistance fall of man and was exspecting pure genius, not disipointed this is a top class title and is by far the best game for the PS3 for proberly a long while, i have compleated resistance twice on campain and 3 times on multiplayer story so i have seen the whole game enough times and this is stunning on graphics, sound, enemys(chimera), wepons, levels, detail, story line..........shall i go on ? no enough said £50 most deffenatley well spent, if u call yourself a gamer then this is a must have to be in your collection

yea lol thats what it is. The thing that stands out the most in this game is the unique weapons. lol, I haven't even gotten them all in campaign mode cuz i only played through the game once (see the hint I'm about to write), but the weapons in this game are crazy. If whoever designed the weapons would have designed the rest of the game I bet it would've been cooler (lol idk). But anyway, overall it's a great FPS experience, but I think on the technical side the graphics could have been better. The controls are good because they're whatever you want them to be (mine are set similar to Halo default) and the gameplay is "FPS standard" (meaning you run and shoot stuff) so thats always good. The story is a little bit disappointing, but thats mostly because of how it's told. I would have rather had it be more directly through Nathan Hale's eyes than through the eyes of the British lady who narrates the story. Once you get into the game you really don't care what she's saying, lol.

This is one of the few good games the ps3 has to offer so don't pass up playing this one (even though I'm not good at giving reviews, lol).

This game has excellent graphics when played on an hdtv. The selection of gun types and features makes both single player and multiplayer never boring. The game is fairly long and the battles can get pretty intense, but the game has a great frame rate. Multiplayer is quick and has great replay value. This is a must own for every PS3 owner.

So far, this is the best Playstation 3 game made. Campaign mode is great. It's not short, so you will have more fun beating it. The graphics are insane. This is a like a better Halo for Playstation 3. There's also great weapons. Rocket Launcher with Air Break Rockets, Hedgehog Grenade, and more. Online play is great. Great Story Line, Repetative levels

The story line is def one of the best that I've ever played, but the levels are almost always the same. The creatures never really get any harder to beat they just add more of the creatures. Still this game was fun because I wanted to know what was gonna happen next. I recommend this game for sure. 4 stars, best game for PS3 so far

Awesome!

This game has great features. The different monsters are pretty cool. There are some aliens that jump on you and eat you. To get them off you have to move the controller around. The weapons are incredible. There is a weapon that can shoot through walls! Some rifles allow you to slow down the target to make it an easier target but it can burn out. I give this game 5 stars because it's a new genre of gamers that have a great to start off on their PS3.

From the first gun shot you can feel the intensity of this title. With it's rich and seemingly endless enviroments this game is a knockout. The controls are very basic for a FPS. Buttons feel like they were placed for the game, not the other way around. Graphics and gameplay are steller. With multiple ways to play including my favorite DEATHMATCH their is no shortage of things to accomplish. Their is an array of guns that have some pretty cool options on how to use them. Online play is fantastic, with virtually no lag, or glitching this game is a FPS lovers dream for online play. I would recommend this game to everyone, from beginner to top gamers.

This game is swell. I had a blast playing it. It has everything, fun single player , 40 player online which is also great. The Visuals are awsome especially for a launch title, I dont want to come on here and hate on the 360 but this game almost keeps up with "gears of war" and thay had an extra year over RFOM. What really impressed me was the length of the game . I was Shocked to see such a beautiful game run so smoothly for the full 14 to 15 hours it takes (on medium) to compleat it. There is a great replay value as well. once you beat it you can go back to get things you missed for unlocks during the online mode. Another good point of the game is the innovative wepons. I give this game a 9.5/10 because i've had the game since last november and I still go online and have a blast fighting for 1st against 39 other people.

this definately holds me down until the ps3 gets more good games, and this is at the top of my ps3 list of favorites right now, the best out of all 4 of my ps3 games!!!!!!!!!!
But doesn't matter cuz I got this jewel and the previous ps2 and ps1 games to play for a long time.

Resistance: Fall of Man

I never played Ratchet & Clank, but the people at Insomniac are pure geniuses. This is one of the best looking and most frantic shooters i have ever played. And it excels in the one place that all shooters need to: Guns. There are 8 guns the first playthrough, including a sniper rifle that slows down time, and a minigun with bullets that bounce off everything like rubber. Weapons are selected by holding down R2 to open up a menu, which pauses combat. It's good in some ways and bad in others. Awesome storyline, with and ending full of awesome movie-grade action. The enemies were extremely well made and unique. Smart too, for so many being on the field at once. Subtle things like their life support tubes tearing and flailing like a balloon are a treat for anyone who sticks around to look. The environments are realistic and the explosions look great. You wont be disappointed with this single player experience.

The multiplayer isn't so noob-friendly though. Fast paced battles with up to 40 people make for some crazy firefights if you can stay alive long enough. Looks great in multiplayer too, and almost all of the weapons make it in. If you love a good sci-fi story, then this is a must-buy for PS3 owners.

Microsoft, eat your heart out.

Launch Game...and still one of the best Games.

This was acctually the first game i bought with my PS3 and wow was i suprised. I knew nothing of RFON as soon as I started playing I was hooked. A must have for the PS3.

Multiplayer

This is a very fun game to play on multiplayer because there are good maps and guns. It didn't get 5 stars because there aren't that much different guns. There are good guns like the bazooka and the flamethrower but, easily found. Also, a flaw for the PS3 and a game like this is that there is no xbox live or a type of PS3 live. Well, their is a PS3 live but, no one plays it.

The story is great, graphics very nice, and game play is excellent. Sometimes you really gotta jump out of your seat when all those crawly things come out of nowhere and make those sounds. Gets intense at times.

I love the game when playing it offline, but the game gets kinda boring when playing online.

When playing online its quite fun at first, but then gets boring as you usually tend to do the same thing over and over.

Overall, awesome FPS! Totally recommend.

I know some people have a problem with the ps3's price tag but if Resistance is just the first of a line of quality games for the ps3 then I think this launch title justifies the price. The game will for sure be compared to Halo, but come on Halo is just another FPS just like Resistance. What you have to look for in a good FPS is solid game play and a unique story line because let's face it, no FPS is going to be really inovative with all new never before seen applications. Resistance, and Halo alike, offers some cool ideas and some fresh game play with a cool story which is surely the first in a series. Of course it looks awesome and the controls handle extremely well. Like I said it's just a FPS with superiorly updated graphics sound controls story and game play. So why the five out of five if I just keep down playing the game? Well it is definitely a must own if you like FPS games and have a ps3, that's without question. Secondly people always say make a good first impression, and for a launch title I don't think it gets any better than Resistance. One of the most impressive things was the dept in the game, I don't have a high-def tv, but I was able to stand a hundred or so "in game" yards away from my enemy and pick 'em off. And even though I am downplaying the game alot, I am merely trying to be objective, so don't get me wrong, I loved the game and continue to enjoy it.

Awsome Grafix. My Cousin and i rented this game and we played it 24/7. like well there is co-op and new guns and weapons to unlock. in single player there are more weapons, like the gun on halo the needler well this is a little difforent, so get this game there is no more to explane in words so get it and you will find out

Resistance is a good game especially online. Some interesting weapons. I have trouble with them though because the bullets fly all over the place but you get use to it i guess. I played some better games but it's not a bad game to beat then return to the store. It was also one of the first games out when the ps3 came out.

Way better than halo!

First of to this Denny guy under me everyone is a beginner when they first get it so please shut up. Anyways a far better game then Halo3. The wepons are better and all have cool secondary fir or uses. Plus they are not gay one hit kill wepons ( like the sword or hammer). It actually takes some skill to kill people. Also usually when someone drops from about 100 feet they usually sustain some damage. Also humans cant jump like 15 feet in the air. Also the story is far more fun and compelleing. Online play is pretty much the same connection wise but it alot easier to find a game on Resistance. There alot of things in Halo 3 which copy Resistance. Seeing how Resistance came out a long time before Gaylo 3 idont think its a coincidense that things such as the backlash grenade(like halos bubbleshield) are alot alike. There are also many other way to similar things. Co-op is fun game is sweet and if ur looking for a system defining game its Resistance Fall Of Man for the PS3

Bought this game a couple of months ago and I must say it is one of the best games for the PS3.
Graphics are brilliant, could use a little more color, control is right on, story line is great. The amount of different weapons
available is amazing. Replay value is excellent, I've played through it at least 5 times. A must buy game.

For me, this is the best game in the world. I've always loved the shooting games and was addicted to Socom: U.S. Navy SEAL's on PS2 for years until the PS3 came out and brought along this game. People say the R1 trigger really bugs them, but because of my esxtensive Socom experience, I got used to it quick and loved it. I started off with the demo and played that forever until I got enough money ($60.00) to buy it. I got shivers all over when the game turned on. I reccommend medium for those just starting out, the first mission is pretty easy and will get things set up for you quick, I'm talking about the controlos, but the games offers a custom controller configuration that you can set up to your own liking. But nevertheless, after the Manchester Mission, the third one in the game, I just could not leave my T.V screen. I may sound like a loser, but for me, this game is just that good. I'd give it a 6 out of 5 if I could. It's just so fun; the campaign will have you on the edge of your seat begging for more, the local multiplayer is fun, especially if you play the little whiny beezy kid from across the street and you kill him at it and he tells on you for not playing fair. True story, that kid is homo, his dad thought so too after he told on me, and the online gaming might get you mad because of some of the killing "techniques" used by other gaymers, but it is extremely fun if you are as good as I am. I strongly reccommend this game as one of the games you need to buy like today. It is amazing, and for all the X-Box 360 playing PS3 haters, it's you who are missing out on good gameplay we've got Call of Duty 4, too, so shut the eff up! The graphics are good for a game that was released as a PS3 launch title in '06, but compared to more recent games, of course it doesn't stack up perfectly to them. If you've got a PS3, go buy this game and add me: LongShaft3769. Sorry for ranting during this review, it's just sooooooo awesome! Oh, another reason to buy this game is because the second one is coming out in the fall. Resistance 2: United we Fall. You need to buy Resistance: Fall of Man and beat to see what's going on in this game. It's just an insane game that I love to death. Let me just say this, X-Box has Halo and PS3 has Resistance, that is how this game compares. Do you get my drift now how awesome this game is?

Resistance:FOM is my favorite Playstation 3 game of all time. I love this game and recevied it last christmas. If you won't a great shooter look no further. The gameplay on campaign is awesome and has a great storyline. Co-op is fun when you have a friend over. The online gameplay is insanely awesome up to 40 or so players on one match. My online name is breakout1 if anyone has a PS3. But yeah if you want a great shooter with great online play Resistance is for you

Resistance FOM was a great first person shooter, which had frequent intense scenes that test a users ability to remain in control and not just run. The game overall was very good, had a great story line, and the difficulty although not easy at the start, progressed it's way to nearly impossible at the end. I strongly recommend playing the first version of this game before the 2nd version comes out late in June.

This is the perfect PS3 game to hit stores everywhere this game is awsome this game is not a waste of money i reapet this game is not a waste of money!!!!!!

KICK ASS!!

This game is too good, it ruined almost every other first person shooter out there for me. The single player campain is so good, and not a handful of hours like some other exclusive FPS... cough cough Gears of War cough cough. The multiplayer is by far the best thing about this game.. Still to this day the best multuplayer out there, EVERY other game should come with squads so you can join a squad and talk to your buddies without having to lister to all the whiny losers complain about me slaughtering them... Resistance 2 is gonna be Unbelievable!!!!!!

Played this game, and it is a great 1rst person shooter. Not as realistic as a Tom Clancy Rainbow Six or Ghost recon when it comes to damage from bullets, but trust me the game is not easy at all. Graphics are amazing on this one, and the Resistance 2 is even better (not listed on this site yet though)
