Wii » Excite Truck » ReviewsVery fun.Reviewed by buttsmeister on December 12, 2006 | report this review I love this game. The sense of speed is really fun and the graphics are solid but not spectacular. The vehicle models look the nicest and stand out against the rather balnd courses. But you can't comlpain about the detail of courses when you are flying by them at 100+! It is justa real shame this game is over to fast and there is limited replay value. That's why I am swapping it. I suggest it for a swap and then a re-swap. It'll last you between 5 and 10 hours of fun. I have milked like 15 because I have showed my Wii to so many people, but probably played it by myself for only 5 hours tops. A game to be kept foreverReviewed by Denny on December 20, 2006 | report this review Excite Truck makes excellent use of the motion sensor in the Wii remote. If you were to use just a gamepad, it would only be half as fun. The single player mode is fun and there are many trucks to unlock. Just unlocking the trucks and vinyls takes up a lot of time. Although getting through the first part of the game is quick, the super-excite mode that's enabled after beating normal mode is challenging and even more fun. Many of my friends enjoy playing this and the two player mode is fun. However, on a 4:3 screen, it's hard to see what's around you. I recommend using 16:9 mode, even on a 4:3 screen and have it stretched. 16:9 mode will show more area around you making it easier to play. Awsome gameReviewed by raphael on June 03, 2007 | report this review At first I thought that this game was to kiddy because of the previews i have looked at, but when I went out and rented it. I played it pretty much 6-8 hours a day. This game is a good game that should be bought. Just because i game looks kiddy dosent hurt to go out and rent it. Pretty GoodReviewed by ringsofterror on June 26, 2007 | report this review I think this was one of the funnest multiplayer games on wii especially because it was a release title. I enjoyed one player but it seemed like it was a little to easy to beat but then I realized that this game was made for everyone so it had to be easier than other T and M rated games. I liked the selection of cars but it could of been bigger and I when I played it it seemed like a game Nintendo wouldn't make. It just wasn't like past Nintendo made games and I was proud of Nintendo. The borders when you go off road are pretty annoying but helpful to newbies. Using Pows and the other things to change landscape are pretty fun. I don't like how you have to get so many stars to be able to win the race. I enjoyed the turbo button it was a challenge to get it to work to your best advantage! I Hope you guys enoy it as well as I did Fun, Fast, Short?Reviewed by Wii-man on July 04, 2007 | report this review This game was lots of fun, but I beat it within a five day rental. Excite Truck is best with 2+ players. Here's a 3 out of 5. Harry PotterReviewed by falcokicksbutt on August 16, 2007 | report this review I am willing to trade Harry Potter(Wii), or points for this game. Best Racing Game on Wii so far better than NFS CarbonReviewed by kngzmexican on September 07, 2007 | report this review
As its name suggests, Excite Truck is all about trucks, and exciting ones at that. Tossing realism firmly out the window, the emphasis here is on blistering speed, daredevil stunts and ludicrous over-the-top action. In fact, with these elements taking precedence over any particular driving proficiency, there's plenty here to appeal to even the most ardent racer hater. You see, developer Monster Games has honed Excite Truck into a delightfully accessible concoction. For a start, it employs the Wii's tilt-sensitive controller to steer, by holding the remote horizontally - effectively capitalising on the way your mum's been playing Mario Kart for years - while paring other controls down to the barest minimum. Button-wise, you've got accelerate, break and the all important turbo boost - triggered by thumbing any direction on the d-pad. That's your basics covered and it's as simple and intuitive to play as that suggests. Thankfully too, unlike other tilt-enabled truck racers we could mention (on the PS3, for instance), steering is spot-on, with just the right amount of sensitivity employed. Better still, Excite Truck takes these streamlined controls and fashions a substantial trick system around them, squeezing a surprising amount of depth into the proceedings. Whether you're hitting the turbo as you hop off a ramp and flaming through the air, grabbing a power boost (essentially, a time-limited turbo) and riding as close to road-side foliage as possible or simply tilting that little bit longer to slide round corners, you're constantly forced to assess the course way ahead of time and plan your moves to make the most of the road layout. Pull off the tricks at your disposal with panache and you'll be ranked between one and five stars. Stay skyward long enough after a particularly hairy ramp launch, for instance, and you'll earn a five-star Super Air bonus. Crucially, this is where Excite Truck deviates from the beaten racer path - rather than demanding first placing at the end of each race, progress is achieved by accumulating a pre-ordained number of stars per course. And, with first place awarded a fairly meagre 50 stars, you'll really need to make the most of each courses features, pulling off ludicrous jumps, partaking in high-speed shunts or screeching roung corners to rack up your progress points and work your way onward and upward. It's this canny track design that really shifts Excite Truck up YES, Best Surreal RacerReviewed by rytard on February 14, 2008 | report this review I got this on the Wii release date and played the heck out of it. Controls are sweet, gameplay is crazy! It could have had more packed in, but I'm giving it a five because it was revolutionary. A must have for any type of racing fan, or if you want to catch massive air in a badass truck. Not Bad!Reviewed by BloodAngl on September 09, 2008 | report this review For driving games, this was pretty good! The steering is kinda tricky but works after you get the feel for it. I was impressed at the feel of driving. It was very unique and except for the once or twice per race it went haywire, it worked pretty well. I'd suggest renting this game first to see if you like it. |
